I admit it can intimidating to do theme manicures for me because all around the nail world are bloggers and non-bloggers alike who are so talented with stamping, nail art, and free-hand painting! I, however, am not one of those people. I’ve tried my hand at stamping a few times and failed miserably at water-marbling…. but I still like to rock a fun themed mani from time to time.
I gathered up a few Halloween-inspired polishes and a sheet of nail vinyls and set to work.
Last week, I showed off one of the new releases from Eat. Sleep. Polish.‘s Letters to a Porcupine collection… check out Soul One here. Today, I have Toes Across the Floor with an accent of Mouthful of Cavities. Both are tricky little polishes, that act shy in front of the camera! It was a bit difficult to capture their true complexity.
I count myself lucky that I am one of the Enchanted Polish hoarders with a Water for Unicorns in my collection… although I admit, it took me quite some time to warm up to this shade! I kept it around for fear that if I did swap it, I would regret it and not be able to acquire it again! Well, I’m glad I kept it because Enchanted Polish recently released a sister to this beauty, called Hot Chocolate for Unicorns. Both unicorn polishes are creamy and opaque with a beautiful splash of holo throughout.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen a sneak peek of these nails from this past weekend while I was at the Chick Advisor Showcase…. if you don’t follow me on Instagram, you’re missing out on kitties, nails and lunches! Check it out over on the right hand side.
For this, I busted out Enchanted Polish’s Dime Piece (2 coats) and OPI’s Absolutely Alice (1 coat over a blue creme base). I wanted a super sparkly combination. This totally hit the nail on the head! Dime Piece is so fabulous… I want to dip my whole hand in it every time I use it.
I recently received an order from Eat Sleep Polish, which included a bonus freebie of nail vinyls. ESP is set to launch these here on their site within the next week or so… These little anchors were so adorable I was in love. And the best part is that they are super easy to use. Finally! Nail-art challenged ladies like me, rejoice! The anchors do require a bit of ‘weeding’ (popping out cut pieces… like the middle of the circle on the anchor), but it was really easy with a pair of tweezers. After that, just place it wherever you want on your nails, and then topcoat it! Done and done!
Absolutely Alice is a blue glitter with some gold flecks. It can be built up to opacity in about 3 coats, but it becomes a real pain to remove at that point! Using it over a similar coloured base seems to work well.
Sadly, neither of the polishes are available anymore… but you can always get the nail vinyls starting next week! She has a bunch of other designs coming out too (I just got 3 more in my last order). I know I personally can’t wait to see all the options. Happy Polishing!
