When I Love Nail Polish launched their Fall collection, I had a really hard time narrowing my choices down. Eventually, I settled on two colours – Iconic, a gold holo, and Black Orchid, which I have for you today. I’m a little late to the party, but the polishes are still available… and still gorgeous!
I can’t even tell you how excited I am to share these polishes with you today. Not only are they gorgeous, they’re made by an amazing Canadian lady, Cat. Do you see the little kitty on the bottle? So adorable. She reminds me of my Marlo… they both love polish!
*ahem* On to the polishes. Alice in Polishland consists of 5 polishes, and is available for $45 on her website here.
First up, is Bruised Her Soul. A deep, rich, vampy holo. I am in love. I used 3 coats for all the polishes, plus my regular topcoat.
Next is Painting the Roses Red. This is a rich holo burgundy colour. I almost want to call it a chocolate burgundy!
Next is Don’t Pet the Cheshire Cat. This one was the only one in the collection that gave me a little bit of trouble. The base is a bit sheer for my liking, even at 3 coats. I also had trouble with the glitters… they kept sliding off with the brush as I painted! Still pretty though. I really like how the purple glitters are squares. Oh, and I swatched this polish last… and broke my nail before I did!! What a pain. Sorry!
Next is my favourite of the bunch, The Queen’s Croquet. The holo on this one is not as bright, but there is other shimmer in it that makes it so pretty… and the colour reminds me of the Bazooka Joe bubblegum that we went through tubs of when I played baseball!
Finally, a glitter topcoat called Off With Her Head! So fun and it has heart glitters! It also has different sized silver, white, and black glitters. Check out the macro!
I used one coat over The Queen’s Croquet… and had no problem getting lots of hearts!
And there you have it! Will you be checking out Eat Sleep Polish?
Remember last week how I tragically broke my nail? Well, they are all now chopped down to nubbins. That was a sad day! I’m just teasing (kind of), but it does suck when one nail breaks just when all of them are looking so good!
Lesson learned! More nail oil, less dry hands!!! I’ve been oiling like crazy since then. Winter is harsh on nails, yo.
The one thing I do like about nubbins is the way vampy polishes look on them. I think it just looks so classy and polished rocking dark manis on short nails. So, I busted out a vampy, of course!
OPI’s Eiffel for this Color is a deep, rich purple with a hint of purple shimmer that you can see under the right lighting or sun. In the shade, it looks dark – almost black but you can still tell that it’s not! I used two coats… and no topcoat.
See that beautiful shimmer? I love polishes like this. Perfect.
Here’s another quickie mani I did this weekend. Lincoln Park After Dark is one of OPI’s top 10 most popular shades… and for a good reason! It’s a vampy creme that applies like a dream, I wore two coats for full coverage, with no issues applying. It’s not quite black so it’s a bit easier to wear without looking too stark or goth 😉
I used Hard Candy’s Party Central as an accent nail on my ring finger. It has all kinds of fun glitter in a clear base.
I love having an accent nail… my boyfriend apparently hates it though! “I can’t take all this asymmetry on your nails!” he told me. What do you think?
